Deepavali or Diwali as it is commonly known is the Festival of Lights. "Deepawali" (also transliterated as "deepaawaLi") literally means a row of lamps (Sanskrit "deepa" = lamp and "aawaLi" = row, line). This is a festival where friends and family get together, have good food and enjoy time with each other. Back home in India, we would also put "Rangoli" - intricrate doodle designs in front of the house, light lamps, wear new outfits and have fun :)
Here at home in Texas, we lit a lot of lamps and have good food and in spirit of Deepavali, I created this card.
I had this Basic Grey Paper that was so suited for this and this Paisely stamp that I have been dying to use. Paisley is also something that is often used in lot of Indian dresses and designs. I printed the words "Happy Diwali" using MS word and then punched it out using SU Word Window punch. Used the scalloped Nestabilities as background for the paisley stamp. Just a simple card, but I liked how it turned out.
