PTI December 2011 Blog Hop

PTI Blog hop Challenge this time is "Holiday Leftovers". I love this challenge and the whole concept itself. I love the gift wrapping papers and some of the patterns are so gorgeous and lately I have noticed that the wrapping papers are slightly thicker as well.

I saved as much of the gift wrap as I could this time and here is a card that I did using those. The wreath that I have used in the picture was used as a gift tag for one of the gifts and I just loved and it will be hung in my craft room now.

Here is a picture of my friend's kids opening some of the gifts at my place (which are the gift wraps that I saved).

Whipper Snapper and Penny Black Holiday Cards

Hi Friends, Happy Halloween. I am back with some more Holiday cards that I made for Barb's Whipper Snapper and Penny Black holiday card swap on SCS.

The first card uses Whipper Snapper Snowman on Sleigh stamp set. This image itself was so big that there was not much room to decorate. I used the ribbon as a sentiment and added some glittery snowflakes. Another thing is that I stamped this image on kraft card stock and then colored it with copics. I kind of like this look.
This second card uses Penny Black Welcome Home stamp. I colored this image with Copics and then used a combination of American crafts Paper for this card. I could not get a good photo of this card for some reason.

Thanks for stopping by,
Supplies:
Stamp - Penny Black Welcome Home, Whipper Snapper Snowman on Sleigh
Ink - Memento black, Ranger DI - Barn Door

Other - Glittery Snowflakes, Circle Punch, PTI Ribbon, American Crafts Ribbon, Gem Embellishment

Bicycle Birthday Wishes

Hi Friends, October is almost ending and we are stepping into winter with the arrival of November. It has been a while since I posted to the blog- things have been a bit hectic at home front and plus I had been mainly doing some scrapbooking and catching up with my Project Life. But I am back with a few posts now.

The card I wanted to share today is a birthday card that I did for KJ's swap on SCS. I used the new Hero Arts + Sizzix  - On the Go Bike stamp and Die combination for this card. I love this new combination of Hero Arts stamp and the open thin framelit die from sizzix combination. It is so easy to stamp and cut.

I used PTI Chartreuse and White CS along with Recollections (From Michaels) Patterned Paper from this card. Some Gingham ribbon from Offray and some PTI Vintage buttons complete the card.

Thanks for stopping by,
Supplies:
Stamp - Hero Arts On the Go Bike, PTI Birthday Basics
Ink - Memento Black, SU Really Rust
Paper - PTI White and Chartreuse CS, Recollections polka dot patterned paper

PTI Swap Card and Card Candy

These are the card and card candy that I did for PTI Swap on SCS Hosted by Shannon. I had so much fun making the card candy.

I used the PTI Doily Details die for one of the card candy and I found out that it is definitely easier if you use the metal shim in cuttlebug. And plus after removing the die cut from the die, if there are any paper pieces stuck to the die, you have to remove them completely before reusing the die again, otherwise it does not cut properly.

Thanks for stopping by,
Supplies:
Stamp - Fillable Frames #5, Matstack 3 Collection, PTI Anniversary Set
Ink - Ranger Distress Ink - Barn Door, Dusty Concord, Memento Black
Paper - PTI White, True Black, Rustic White, Kraft, Mellon Berry, Dark chocolate CS. PTI Bitty Dot basics patterned paper, SU printed text patterned paper
Other - PTI Royal Velvet Ribbon, PTI Butterfly, SS butterfly, Fillable frame #5 Die, Matstack 3 Die and Doily Details Die, Pearl Embellishments, PTI Vintage Buttons, Black Twine

Wedding Reception - Timed Title

Hello Friends, I made it to Round 3 of "So you think you can scrap" challenge on Colorful Creations. Yoohoo!!

This week's challenge was to create a layout where the title is the actual Time!!! This was indeed a challenge and the more I thought about it, I wanted to use a picture from our wedding and I loved this particular photo from our wedding reception.

I took inspiration from the color of my saree and did the layout with blues and golds. The challenge also involved using a sketch and I just loved the sketch as well. Overall, I am very happy with this layout. I know have a new way of titling the scrapbook pages - use the actual date or time of the event. Neat indeed!!

Bella - Our Best Friend

This is just a random layout that I created with some of the Bazzill Basics Cardstock scrap that I had. These are pictures that we took during Akshay's visit to Dallas. Sadly, we did not take any pictures with him. Next time :)

This is the most simple page I have done so far with just card stock and no patterned papers. I kept the embellishments also minimal, just a simple chipboard sticker.

Love Project Life

This is the 2nd week of "So You think you can scrap" Challenge over at Color Creations. I am happy that I made into 2nd round :)

The challenge for 2nd round is to create a two page layout by creating a mirror image of a sketch and also to use black for your background.

I created this two page LO with the pictures of Project Life - I mean the actual kit. I was so excited about it, so I had to create a page with these pictures. I found some really nice MME Lost and Found patterned papers at Hobby Lobby. So was quite excited to use this black and white polka dot paper with this challenge.

Here is the sketch that I used for this LO,

The Play Date Cafe Challenge - PDCC98

2nd post for the day. Please click here or scroll down to see the post for 4x6 photo love class post.

I did this layout for The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC98 - to use the two different variants of blue and mustard/yellow. This is a picture of Bella from a few months back. For a change, she was sitting happily and posing for me and I just love this picture and had to create a LO with it.

I also tried a new thing with this layout, I used the Glimmer mist and sprinkled some ink on the page. Although it did not turn out exactly as I had imagined, not too bad I guess for my first try. I did not spray the mist, but just sprinkled it.

Here are the PDCC98 colors,

I used the Pencil Lines Sketch #251 for this challenge. Here is the sketch,

Brenham Downtown

I did another layout with our pictures from the Brenham Trip. I did this layout for the 4x6 photo love August class on twopeasinabucket.com taught by Shimelle Laine.

Basically I cut the first page by 4 inches along with the page protector and then sewed both the cut and the full 12x12 page protectors together to keep the photos/layouts together. I loved this idea for layouts with multiple photos. Since, I did not have to cut any photos, I could put this layout together very quickly. Also, I used the tip from Shimelle's video about cutting a border sticker and using it in two places.

This is how the page looks when they are open, (sorry for my storage view in the background),

New Home card

I wanted to share this card that I did for my friend's house warming party. I love this board and beams set from PTI. It was one of my initial stamp purchases from them. I do wish they did a few dies for this set.

I stamped the home image in black memento ink, colored it with copics and then cut it out. I then stamped the fence on the card stock, added the cut out home and tree image. Sentiment and ribbon completed the card. I some how liked how this card turned out.

Vacation time at Universal Studios

Hello Friends, Back with a post after a long time. I am participating in the -"So You Think You Can Scrap" challenge over at Colorful Creations. The first week's challenge was to create a layout with two different do it your own embellishments.

I did a pin of my own using some beads and pearls. I also did the butterfly embellishment using some PTI felt and gem stones (This was inspired by the Card Candy that Michele had done a while ago).

This is a picture of my mom at Universal Studios during their visit here in 2007. I just loved this colorful picture and had to create a LO with it. Papers are from stash and the chipboard title is also from Stash. I kept the LO Simple with focus on photo and journaling.

This is a picture of my parents in NYC - Times Square during their visit to US in 2007. I had a bit of hard time capturing a good photo of this layout, so please do excuse the picture quality.

Love is Sharing

I signed up for the Big Idea Festival by BigPictureClasses.com and the word for today was "Share" - by Amy Tan. I loved this word and there were so many possibilities. I created this layout using this photo of my brother-in-law Sanjay and his wife Kiran and used the word Share as title. Love is also all about Sharing and being there for each other and that is what this LO Represents.

I used PencilLines.com sketch #250 for this Layout. Here is the Sketch,

Here is a close up of the Journaling about "Share". It was nice to use up chipboard alphabets by mixing and matching the alphabets (after I organized the alphabets).

Cooking Class

I wanted to share this layout that I did for Lisa Day's 28 sketches class on www.bigpictureclasses.com. I had actually done this layout a while ago, but I had to print and glue the journaling and that took me a while as my craft room was in transition.

It was lots of fun attending the cooking class at Viking Culinary School in Dallas with my friends Leena and Amy. I have a few more layouts on this that I am working on and will hopefully share them soon.

New Craft Room

**Warning - Picture Heavy Post ***

I recently moved my scrapbook/stamping room from the guest room into the game room. My dear husband did the majority of work with the painting and putting laminate flooring in the game room. I was lucky and blessed to get some Ikea furniture for storage. So, without further ado, here are some pictures of my new craft room.

On the right hand side corner of the room, I have a Billy Bookcase from Ikea filled with SU, GKD, Ippity and Verve Stamps, Ribbon spools and some misc things. I also have a 1x5 Ikea Expedit Cube to store my papers in. I have two IRIS Storage carts stacked on top of each other. These store themed embellishments and stickers etc. There is an Antonius cart from Ikea next to my desk in which I store Glue/Brads etc.

Here are some pictures of my table, with ink and copics, PTI Stamps, the corner Galant table that we got from Ikea and the Alex Drawers.

I have some of the older Michael's storage cubes and the bigger expedit in the other corner.
I am so happy with this new place. I will post more on how I have organized things and also the contents of the drawers etc.

Last but not the least, Bella happy in the new place as well,
Thanks for stopping by and having the patience to go through all the pictures :)
Have a wonderful Wednesday,
