Sketch 17 of 52 Sketches 52 Weeks

Here is my Sketch 17. This is a photo of my Mom in Rain forest cafe in Grapevine mills mall. The flourishes on the top corner are cut with Silhouette, my newest acquisition. The flourishes at the bottom corner are from Kaiser Crafts. I love these wooden flourishes. They can be used with Glimmer mist or glitter or just plain. They make a great addition to any project as they are very thin and very light weight, but still sturdy enough.

Mojo Monday 84 sketch

Here is my take on Mojo Monday Sketch. If I had to redo this card, I would not use the black PP that I used from the 7 Gypsy collection. It was left over from a scrapbook kit and I thought let me use it, but I am feeling like it kind of clashes with Green and Melon berry ..oh well. Next time.

Here is the sketch,

Stamp - PTI Friends Till End, PTI Tags for Spring
Ink - PTI Melon Berry, PTI Grean Leaf
Paper - PTI Green Leaf, PTI Melon Berry, 7 Gypsies Collection DP

Sketch 16 from 52 sketches 52 weeks

Sketch 16 was interesting for me because I did not have a die cut paper in the shape of the sketch and plus a page or sketch with layers are always fun and challenging to do.

But recently Remember When store in Whitesboro, TX had it's 50% off sale and I ended up getting a die cut page similar to what was mentioned in the sketch and was excited to get this page done.

I used the photos I took in my Uncle's Garden in Hartford. He grows Vegetables, fruits, flowers and what not. My parents had a real good time there.

Supplies:
Stamp - None
Paper - Generic PP, PTI Melon Berry Cardstock, PTI DP

PTI April Blog Hop

It is PTI Blog Hop Time :)

The challenge for this month is to use the Timeless Templates. Here is the link to the bloghop.

For this challenge, I used the free Recipe wrap template and created a birthday calendar list from it. It was a CASE of Geny Cassady's design.
But I repurposed it for Birthday/Anniversary List rather than just calendar. That way I have to just check that list once a week to know which cards I have to make.

It was fun working with the template. It was very easy to do and fun. I used Ocean Tides CS and the new leaves DP to cover it. For the insides I used the Dark Chocolate DP and Dark Chocolate CS Trim. Stamp from Garden of Life stamped in Ocean tides gave that additional look.

I am not too happy about the blue hemp cord that I have used. I might change it into something more substantial.

But overall I am very happy about this template and see many more uses for it.

Thanks for looking.

OCC Recycled Challenge

April 22nd being Earth Day, the OCC challenge this time was to create a card or project using recycled item. I was thinking about it when I realized that I needed something to hold the 10 cards that I was creating for my friend. Just then I had unpacked a new stamp set from PTI and was feeling bad about trashing the plastic pack they come in. That is when it hit me that I could re-use it to put cards for my friend.

Here is the PTI Recycled stamp case to hold Cards for my friend. Nothing complex, just a simple project.

DRS Designs Challenge #19

I was browsing through some blogs and found this link to the DRS design challenge. Was intrigued and ended up doing this card. I am not at all happy with the card. The flowers from Garden of Life PTI set, cannot be seen at all. I stamped in Summer Sunrise ink on to the Summer Sunrise CS, I probably should have chosen a darker color. Will probably end up redoing this card.

Here is the link to the challenge. The challenge was to use the following colors,

Chocolate Chip
Pink Passion
Summer Sun

I used the PTI equivalent - Dark Chocolate, Hibiscus Burst and Summer sunrise.

Here is my card....Kind of pathetic when I look at it now, so will probably redo it..did I mention it already...:(

Supplies:
Stamp - PTI Garden of Life, Generic Birthday Sentiment set
Ink - PTI Summer Sunrise, PTI Dark Chocolate
Paper - PTI Summer Sunrise, Dark Chocolate and Hibiscus Burst CS
Other - SU Scallop Punch, PTI Hibiscus Burst Buttons, Stickles, Sakura Gellyroll Stardust Glitter Pen

SCA3C20 - Spring, Berry Chocolate Tart

For this week Sara's color challenge had the colors Spring Moss, Melon Berry, Dark Chocolate and Lemon Tart.

I was trying to make a kids birthday card and this color combination turned out to be perfect. I used the Frog stamp from Pond life and stamped it on Lemon Tart, Spring Moss and Melon Berry using Dark Chocolate Ink. Then just layered these on a Dark Chocolate Card base. The words Hippity Hop punched out with SU Word Window punch made a good addition.

I was thinking when my latest PTI order comes, I can use the chocolate buttons and embellish this card some more.

Supplies:
Stamp set - PTI Pond Life
Ink - PTI Dark Chocolate
Paper - PTI CS - Dark Chocolate, Melon Berry, Lemon Tart, Spring Moss, Vintage Cream
Other - Word Window Punch, Ribbon

Organizational Friday

The new buttons introduced by PTI has been awesome. First of all it is a variety pack, so you can play around with different styles of buttons and second it matches with their card stock making it a breeze to use in cards and scrapbook pages.

I was just keeping those buttons in the small zip lock pouch it came in, but was not totally happy with that storage idea. Yesterday as I was grocery shopping in Wally's, found this real neat Spice Rack - stainless steel with Glass Jars - 18 of them and fell in love with it.

I took out all the spices, washed the jars, dried them and viola - a cool new storage for the PTI buttons.

I stuck the corresponding color CS on the lid of the Jar to cover the spice name. Each color button sack needs two jars. So I can for now keep 9 colors in this until I need to buy another one. Here are some pictures,

Goodies from my SS Jen

It totally made my day to get some goodies from my SS Jen. Her card is just amazing - made from the new clear CS from PTI. My photo of course does not make any justice to it. It is lot more "Cool" in real life.

I also loved the Monogram stamp set that she sent me. I never had one and of course the beautiful K and Company Flower embellishments.

Thanks thanks and thanks...loved them and will use them shortly on a LO that I am working on.

Sara's Perfect Match Monday SCA3C19 Raspberry Fizz Mix

Sara's Perfect Match Monday challenge from last week (I think) was to use Raspberry Fizz. I fell in love with this color and have used it a lot. But I had not used it with the Raspberry Fizz DP as I had never bought it. But I printed off a sheet from the PTI using the try it before you buy option.

Here is a link to Sara's Challenge.

I needed to do birthday card for a young girl and this was just the right combination. So, here is my card using Raspberry Fizz and Raspberry Fizz DP. I used the Hibiscus button with it and I feel it looked quite pretty with it. Sentiment was from Birthday Basics set.

Later I felt I could have done additional things with the DP, but for some reason this simple design appealed to me a lot.

Supplies:
Stamp Set - PTI Birthday Basics
Ink - PTI Raspberry Fizz
Paper - PTI Raspberry Fizz, PTI True Black, PTI Stampers White, PTI Raspberry Fizz DP
Other - Spellbinders - Labels Trio Dies, PTI Hibiscus Burst Button, Hemp Cord, Marvy Scallop Square Punch

PTI April Recycled Swap

It was an interesting exercise to create a card for PTI's recycled swap that Jen is hosting for April. I had a bunch of red and black CS left over from a card class I had conducted a few months back and I was not sure what to do with them as they were kind of odd in size. This recycled swap was the perfect fit for them.

I used the Fiskars border punch on the red cs and layered the black and PP over it. I used all of my left over patterned paper and was very happy with the result. I used the new PTI set - Tags for Spring along with the flower from Boxes and Bags set. I even ended up using some left over buttons from another project, so this was truly recycled card for me.

Some stickles and the Sentiment from the handwritten notes completed the card. I did not have much of the Hemp cord. So, used it where I could.

I did not spend much time on design on this one. Just kept it simple. Also I had run out of both Kraft and PTI Stampers White Paper, so I ended up using some old pre scored and pre folded cards. I was like gosh these are so thin..I am totally spoilt by PTI now and anything else looks so flimsy. So, whoever gets this card, please do not feel bad about the card base. Next swap should be fine as I am now stocked up on Kraft and White CS from PTI.

Supplies:
Stamp Set - PTI Tags for Spring, PTI Boxes, Bags and Tags, PTI Handwritten Notes
Ink - PTI True Black, PTI Melon Berry, PTI Summer Sunrise
Paper - Generic Red, Generic Black and Mixed DP
Other - Mary Punches, Stickles, Misc Buttons, Fiskars Border Punch

PTI April Regular Swap

We had two swaps this time - the regular card swap and the recycled card swap.

For the regular card swap, I used the new (at least new for me as I had not inked it yet) Friend till End Set and did this card shown below. I think it is much more beautiful in real life. These photos did not do justice to the card. I used the Bitty Basics PP from PTI on white card base and then mounted the Plum Pudding CS stamped with the smaller flower from the Friends till the End set.

I used Vintage Cream ink and the Stickles to kind of highlight the flower center. The word Friend stamped with Plum Pudding on white and punched out with SU Oval Punch completed the card.

I used Martha Stewart's border punch for the white CS layer and of course some of PTI's really cool white ribbon to complete the picture.

Here is a close shot of the flower's,

Thanks for checking out my card. I was a little hesitant to get this set and in fact I got this set after its release and now I am really liking it. It has lots of possibilities and is pretty neat.

Supplies:
Stamp Set - PTI Friends 'till the End
Ink - PTI Vintage Cream, PTI Plum Pudding
Paper - PTI Stampers White, PTI Plum Pudding, PTI Bitty Basics DP
Other - SU Oval Punch, Martha Steward Embossed Border Punch, Stickles, PTI Ribbon

Baby Shower Favors and Centerpiece

Finally I am getting to post the entire Baby Shower ensemble that I did for my very good friend. She was having a baby girl - so I did baby shower favors in Pink and did like a flower bouquet kind of thing for the center piece.

For the baby shower favors, I used these real nice DP from Martha Stewart. I used the 2-4-6-8 box template and instead of leaving the top portion open, I just folded it and put a ribbon through it. I put some candies inside the cartons.

I used the bamboo skewers and attached the words "Baby Girl" to them. Basically I used some crystal effects and just left these to dry overnight. It held perfectly. I then put these skewers in an old plastic container and decorated the container with stamped images, PP and Ribbon. It was very easy to do and looked nice.

Here is a view of all of them together - center piece, favors and the card.

I actually forgot to take the picture of this at the actual baby shower. Basically, we put the favors on the table with the centerpiece, put some confetti over the table and had the visitor's sign in and also the cards for people to sign. It was kind of looking nice.

Mojo Monday 79 Sketch and Catalog Inspiration

Without much ado, here is my card,
