Cards from the Coffee themed Kit Swap

I was part of this coffee themed card kit swap. I have gotten back such wonderful kits, it was like a overload of coffee :D Not that I am complaining. Anyways, I was very excited to get start on cards using this kit. The very first kit I picked was from tnb aka Barbara who is my very good friend Jen's mother and I think stays in Hawaii...:))

I used up everything she had sent in the kit. I have some scraps of paper and some ribbon pieces left over...that I can easily make another card with.

Thanks Barbara for this great kit and thanks to Jen for hosting this swap. Next week I will show case some other kit :)

Her kit included beautiful stamped and embossed coffee mug images. I liked them so much that I left them as is and did not color them. She had embossed it in some beautiful golden coffee color...at least that is how the color felt for me. The brown paper she had included was beautiful - two side and I was torn as to which side to use, but the dark brown side won finally. I still have some scraps left over from that DP and have some ideas for that. And she has included some beautiful border sentiment that is just way too cute.

This blue paper went very well with the theme and I loved those glitter brads and the heart accents :) This DP also has two sides, but the stripes were nice and bright and I had to go with it. The ribbon was too nice as well. In retrospect, maybe I should have switched the ribbons so that there was some contrast. Oh well :)

But I loved both the cards and had lots of fun.

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #13

Dawns latest Raspberry Suite Color Challenge had some interesting colors that I would not have put together by myself. It was Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Spring Moss and White.

I had ordered this Filigree Detail Embossing Powders from PTI (White and clear) and had not used them yet. So, I wanted to use them for this project. I used the Wishing you set, embossed it in white on pure poppy - I felt this would really enhance the embossing effect. I used some bitty boxes DP in Berry Sorbet Color and some ribbon and buttons to complete the card. I am in that phase where I am like straight edges :). Also for the first time I used the DMC Floss for the ribbon, inspired by friends on SCS.

Here is the card,

Here is the color challenge,

Aged to Perfection

I was checking out Latisha's blog and she had posted this amazing card using the Sketch 31 from 2 Sketches 4 you. I have had this just rite stamper set from ages and decided to play with this sketch. I have also started using 5x7 cards now after my friend Anjali mentioned that she liked those better than the 4.25 x 5.5. So here is my card, I kept it simple :)

Do I Dazzle You?

Flourishes Timeless Challenge was to use Shimmerz on your card. I had got this Edward stamp from The Greeting Farm a while ago and had not had a chance to play with it. This was the perfect opportunity for this stamp. For those who are not Twilight Fans, Edward - the hero of the book who is a vampire - when sunlight falls on his skin it glitters like diamond.

So, I colored the image with copics and used Shimmerz - Butter Cream on his face and arms. I outlined his face and arms with Sakura Gelly roll glitter pen as well.

Sentiment was printed out from my computer and covered with some Shimmerz as well. I outlined the sentiment with Sakura Gelly Roll Blue glitter pen - just to keep with my color scheme.

Here is snapshot of the card at an angle and hopefully you can see some of the shimmer.

Supplies:
Stamp - Edward stamp from The Greeting Farm
Paper - PTI Vintage Cream, Generic Black CS, Making Memories DP
Ink - Memento Black, Copics
Other - Martha Stewart Border Punch, SU Oval Punch, Sakura Gelly Roll Glitter Pen, Shimmerz

PTI July Blog Hop - with catalog inspired colors

PTI July blog hop was twist on text integrated into our projects. I started out with creating a card with crayon resist background using PTI Background Basics - Text and Garden of life. I kind of liked that effect as well. But when I saw my finished card, I realized that I had glued on the text portion upside down. It might not make a difference, but some how I was not happy with it. So, I had to create another card. Here is my card for the blog hop.

Here is a closeup of the flowers - I cut them out with cuttlebug, stamped with the PTI Background basics - text and then crumpled them a bit for a vintage look and added a New Leaf button in the center.

Here is the catalog that inspired the colors of the birdhouse,

And the copics I used for the birdhouse,

I decided to add my first attempt as well...even thought the text is facing upside down. I some how liked this card. I used glossy card stock and first stamped the PTI Background basics - text in stazon black ink. Once that dried, I stamped the flower from PTI Garden of Life. Then I colored it with crayon and dabbed Berry Sorbet ink all over the card stock. I added a simple ribbon, sentiment and some flowers that I did the same treatment as the first card, cut with cuttlebug and stamped with PTI Background Basics - Text.

Sorry for the long winded post and thanks for stopping by. :)

Supplies:
Stamp - PTI Background Basics Text, PTI Garden of life, PTI Bird Watching
Paper - PTI Spring Moss, Kraft, Vintage White CS
Ink - PTI Berry Sorbet, New Leaf, Memento Black
Other - SU Small Oval Punch, SU Corner Punch, PTI Vintage Button, Copics, Cuttlebug, PTI White Ribbon, Generic Flowers with bling

Combined Scrapbook Challenges

It was fun combining three challenges this time to create this scrapbook page. The lake reminded me of fishing, and the sunset reminded me of hot air baloons. So the GKD Eclectic Summer set was perfect for this page.

1) Scrap and Stamp challenge which was,
To create a layout using water pictures - anything to do with water, have at least 2 pattern papers, three embellishments and one stamped image on the layout.

I used these photos from our trip to Possum Kingdom lake to create the layout. Brads, Photo Clips (I am not sure if these are called something else) and buttons were the three embellishments. Fish, Kite and Hot Air Balloon images from the GKD Eclectic Summer Stamp set completed the page

2) StampTv Tuesday Scrapbook challenge which was,

Use your summer photos and summer stamp sets to create your layout.

The photos at Possum kingdom lake this summer and GKD's Eclectic Summer stamp set was used to create this layout.

3) Sketch #28 from 52 sketches 52 weeks

Copic Creations Challenge # 7 - Brunette Hair

The Copic Challenge this time is to color brunette hair. I had never done this before so this was an inviting challenge to work on as it is more learning for me.
Here is the link to the Copics Challenge.

It helped me a lot to watch videos from Suzanne on hair coloring. I am sure I have more to learn....but I am quite happy with the results for a first timer. Here is a link to Suzanne's blog. You can see lot of reference material and videos on her right nav.

For the image itself, I used the Digital stamp of Swinging Gretchen from Sweet and Sassy Stamps. You can see their website here. I wanted to use the larger image to see more of my coloring, hence went with a 5x7 card size.

Here is my card,

Here are the set of colors I used for the Hair..I did not have some of the browns that Suzanne had used..so I improvised.

Here are the colors I used for Skin and Dress. I highlighted the sash and band on the dress with Copic Spica pen and also colored the shoe with Copic Spica pen.
