Damask Inspiration from Moxie Fab World

I was totally inspired by the Damask Post on Moxie Fab world. Oodles of fun and inspiration. So I ended up doing two cards for this,

1. I did a simple Holiday card using the PTI Damask Designs Stamp set. I stamped the Sweet Blush cardstock with the border image and then just layered it with some ribbon and the sentiment on the PTI Fillable Frames Die. This card was inspired by the pink and brown Damask Prints bag in the post.

2. I was really impressed by the very first Yellow damask photo in the Moxie Fab world post and just could not get that out of my mind, so I used the Card Patterns Sketch #87 to create this Friendship card. I kind of liked how this turned out as well. I used the Chair-ished stamp set with this card. I created my own border using one of the single images from the PTI Damask designs stamp set. I just loved the Yellow Damask background with the chair, although I used a brown chair in my card :)

Here is the card patterns sketch,

PTI Blog Hop - Diwali Wishes

If you are looking for the Monday {ippity} Hop Post, please scroll down or Click here.

CHALLENGE: There is always a lot of focus on Christmas in our industry this time of year, as that is what the majority of the population celebrates.  However, this month's blog hop is dedicated to those that celebrate winter holidays other than Christmas.  Create a project that celebrates Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or some other winter holiday as we embrace everyone's beliefs in a celebration of diversity through paper crafting.

This challenge was perfect for me to create some Diwali or Deepavali Cards for my friends. Diwali is the Indian Holiday that falls around Winter time. It is called Festival of Lights. Although I did not really use Lights on my cards, but went with more Indian Theme.

For my first card, I used Guide Lines II set along with the Guidelines Paper and created this beautiful background with Orange and Green colors. I then printed the sentiment from Computer, cut it out with Nestabilities and added a simple bow and pin. This motif background has a Indian feel for me. I am in love with these Hat Pins. I bought some pearls from Hobby Lobby the other day and did this pin :)

For my second card, I used the Round and Round Anniversary set, stamped it in Orange and layered it on some Dark Chocolate cut with the PTI Mat Stack die. I love this die and it goes so well with this set. Paper is from the DCVW Taj Mahal collection - beautiful Indian themed paper. I added the sentiment that I printed from computer.

For the last card, though not my best and did not truly turn out how I was anticipating it - I used the flowers from About you set and the sentiment again was something that I printed. Again one of my pins... In love with these :)

There was this one image in the PTI 2008 holiday tag set, a star surrounded by this elegant scroll work, I thought would fit the theme of Diwali as well, as we hang these star shaped lights around the home, but then I was not getting good design ideas..maybe next time.

Butterfly Wishes

Color Throwdown #115 had this awesome color combination and I knew I wanted to create a card with it. Also Smita had challenged us to make a card using ribbons and no stamps!! She is the guest blogger on Yvonne's blog this wee - This was indeed a big challenge for me as I was not sure what to without stamping and it was kind of fun to think outside the box.

I used the new Tim Holtz Texture Fades Embossing folder for the Plum Pudding CS. I cut out the Butterfly from PTI Butterfly die set using the PTI Bitty Dot Basics Patterned paper.

I have always wanted to try the Layered and Looped ribbon technique that Nichole Heady (from PTI) does and never did. So Smita's challenge was perfect for this card. Here is a Video from Nichole Heady showing this Technique.

I am entering this card for,
1) Color Throwdown #115

SC301 - Flower for you

I was just browsing through Splitcoast Stampers Card sketches and this Sketch SC301 was kind of neat and I had recieved this amazing package of goodies from my Secret Sister. So, I had to use one of the Whipper Snapper images that she had sent to create a card for this sketch. Everything that I have used on this card, including the card base, the basic grey patterned paper and the buttons are from the kit. I just used my copic markers to color the image. THANKS To my SS for a cool kit for me.

I used the Martha Stewart Grass Border Punch to create the border. I am very happy how this card turned out.

Cinema Saturday Creative challenge #99 - Edward Scissorhands

Cinema Saturday Challenge #99 is Edward Scissorhands. I have not seen this movie although Johnny Depp is my fav actor. So after seeing the challenge, I went and looked up in Youtube and found some trailers. I saw an overwhelming black and white that Edward wears in the movie and him being unique due to his Scissorhands, so those two inspired this card. It does look kind of plain in retrospect, maybe I can give it another try :)

I die cut that label shape from PTI Dies and then added some doodling around the edge. The image "Original" is from the {ippity}Stamp set - Love in Return. Patterned Paper is from My minds eye

I also used the Card Patterns Sketch #86 for this card.

Thanks for Stopping by,
Stamp - {ippity} Love in Return
Paper- PTI Soft Stone and White CS, SU and MME patterned paper

I used this Sun and Bird image from Quotes a'la Happy along with Sweet Sunday Sketch #89.

I colored the bird image with copics and added some highlights with copic spica glitter pens. I think I am Stamp-a-ma-jig challenged. After several tries, I was still stamping the bird image slightly crooked. So, this last attempt, I left it as is.

Please click here to see and order {ippity} stamps.

Here is my card for today's hop,

I did this card for the Cinema Saturday Challenge #98 - The inspiration movie is Dead Poet's Society. This is one of my favorite movies and I had to play along with it. I loved one of the scenes in the movie where Robin Williams who is the professor tells the students to rip out a page from a book as it does not really tell them how to understand a poem. So, I kind of ripped the patterned paper on this card. Also I used some text script and music notes paper from October Afternoon to kind of represent the school, poems etc. This sentiment from {ippity} Where You Should Be set was perfect for this card. The CSC Challenge was also to use felt on the card. I cut up some brown felt using the PTI Ric Rac Die and add that to the card as well.

I used Unscripted Sketch #76 for this card.

Supplies:
Stamp - {ippity} Where you should be
Paper - PTI Kraft and White CS, October Afternoon Patterned Paper

I used the Lime Green Paper (kind of) from Basic Grey Lemonade collection - dry embossed it with the cuttlebug argyle folder and then add some PTI Purple CS. I love how this card turned out and will be using this design again.

Inspired Crafters Sketch Challenge #10

Hello friends,

It is the First Friday of the Month - Which means it is time for Inspired Crafters Sketch Challenge for the Month of October. We also have Sankari Wegman as our featured Guest Designer for this sketch. So, please do stop by there to check out her inspiring card.

I used the PTI Delightful Dahlia for my card. I cut out the Dahlia image using the Biscotti Patterned paper and PTI Die. I stamped the image on it using Memento Black ink. I did the same for the Leaves as well. I wanted to carry the polka dot pattern on to the focal image area as well. So I stamped the Polka dots from PTI Polka Dots Basics II on white CS, cut it out using Nestabilities and added some additional detail using the Vintage labels.

Sorry for the quality of my picture, this is what happens when I wait till late night to take the pictures of my projects. Some pearl embellishment and the sentiment from Delightful Dahlia completed the card :)

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you can stop over at IC blog and participate in this sketch challenge to win some exciting prizes.
