Diwali Cards

2nd Post of the day. Please scroll down or click here to see the Appreciate You post.

Diwali is the Festival of Lights celebrated through India. The festival is celebrated by lighting lamps all around and outside the homes and with plethora of sweet and savory dishes. I love this festival as it feels so bright to be sorrounded by lights and where families & friends get together and have a good time. So, when I saw that a few Indian stampers had joined together for a Diwali blog hop, I had to create a few cards. You can start the blog hop at Chaitali's blog (She even has some Silhouette cut files for you) and get all the details there.

Warning - Picture Heavy Post as I ended up creating three cards :)

1) I used the PDCC 155 colors (mint, gold and leather) for this card. I also used Retro Sketches #34

The lamp (diya) image is from about.com - a free clip art. I printed it and colored it with copics. The sentiment is in Samarkan Font.

Here are PDCC Challenge panel and Retro Sketch,

2) I did this second card again using PDCC 155 colors (mint, gold and leather) and this time I used the CASE this sketch #3 for this card.

I used the same lamp clip art and sentiment. :) Just a variation in the sketch. I used gold bling for the gold color.

Here is the CASE Sketch #3,

3) Last but not the least, I used Lawn Fawn's Lunar Lights stamp set to create this card. During Diwali we hang these lanterns in our homes and you get the most amazing and beautiful lanterns and this stamp set reminds me of those lanterns. I paper pierced the lanterns in bright patterned papers and kept it simple.

Appreciate you

Hello Friends, Happy Friday :) We have a cold front here in Texas :) But it is nice and toasty in my craft studio..so all is well.

This is a card that I made for
1) CASE Study Challenge #114

I just love the design/Layout of Julia's card - you can see her original card on the CASE Study challenge blog - and kept the same and instead of the felt plants she had in her card, I used butterflies for my card.

2) I am also entering this card for the Indian craft room Challenge - ICRC22 : MONOCHROMATIC + LETTER FAMILY!!!

So, the challenge was to create a card with Monochromatic Colors and use embellishments from the same letter.

So, I went with B - Blue, Blue Patterned Papers, Butterfly, Bling, Brad (the big butterfly has a blue brad in the center).

Loved how this card turned out. I used PTI Butterfly dreams stamp set for this card and the sentiment is from PTI YOF - Lily of the Valley stamp set. I then punched out some extra butterflies using MS punches and then added some brad and bling. The blue flower felt ribbon was from stash.

October 2012 PTI Blog Hop

The Challenge this time for PTI Blog hop is to create Holiday project with non traditional holiday colors. I am on a roll with my Christmas cards so this was perfect and it is always fun to experiment with Non Traditional colors. So be warned of this photo heavy post as I created three cards for today's blog hop.

1) First up is this Aqua Mist and Raspberry Fizz Combination,
I stamped the wreath image from PTI Wreath for all seasons in Raspberry Fizz and added the berries in Blue (I do not have PTI Hawaiian shores ink - so used a memento ink here). The sentiment from Signature Christmas was also stamped in blue. Here is the combo from Nichole Heady's Blog,

2) Second is the card I did with Pine Feather, Ocean Tides and Pure Poppy. I just loved how this card turned out,
I used Rustic Snowflakes and Dearest Jane Patterned Papers along with Ocean Tides, pine Feather, Vintage Cream card stock. Sentiment is from PTI Fillable Frames #8. I added a few snow flakes brads as well. Here is the combo from Nichole Heady's blog,

3) Last but not the least, I used Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet and Harvest gold combination. I also used Retro Sketches #34 for this card.
I used the PTI 2008 Holiday tags stamp set for this card and this was a truly unusual color combination for me to use for a holiday card. It was nice to work out of my comfort zone. I also used the doily details dies from PTI.
Here are the retro sketch and combo from Nichole Heady's blog,

Framed Christmas Card

2nd Post for the day. Please scroll down or click here to see the Cas-ual Friday Challenge Post.

I loved PTI's Fabulous frames dies and I had so many ideas with it, but some how I never created anything with them until now. As soon as I saw the Paper Players Challenge #118 - CAS Framed Challenge, I wanted to create a Christmas card with the fabulous frames Die.

I cut the Polaroid frame from Basic Grey Blitzen paper collection. I punched out the Christmas tree using the EK Success punch and then layered the frame over it with some foam dots so it looked like the tree was visible through the window. The Snowflakes patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket collection. I like how this card turned out and will probably do a few more.

Thanks for stopping by,

Stamp - PTI Peaceful Poinsettia
Ink - PTI New Leaf

I was inspired by the Girl Friday Laurie's card for this challenge. I CASED her card and used a different patterned paper and a Studio Calico Heart Veneer instead of the flower.

The stamp set is a sentiment from MFT that was part of a VIP Package from last year (May I think). I just love this sentiment.

Got Sketch Class - Sketch #1

It is fun to be participating in Valerie's Got Sketch class again. I just love her sketches. I used the pictures of my friend's daughter and her grandma for the first sketch. Some how these photos were just perfect for this layout. I used the Studio Calico City Lights Kit for this layout. Except the chipboard circle and title, everything else is from the kit.

I loved how this layout turned out. My chevron border is not the best for two reasons, I should have used some contrasting papers and second my angle got messed up. Oh well, another reason to try it again.

Thanks for stopping by,
Supplies:
Stamp - None
Paper - Studio Calico City of Lights Scrapbook Kit
Ink - None
Other - EK Success Scallop border Punch, Michael's chipboard circle and title.
