Pink and Black Thinking Of You

I  made this pink and black - Thinking of you card for my friend in India. I used the Sketch #4 of Verve December VLV Sketches. This sketch is designed by Teresa - she has some awesome Verve creations on her blog.

The theme this time was Christmas Ornaments and Decor. I used this Pink and Black Ornament from Etsy as my inspiration.

I used the Verve Kind Words stamp set for this card. I have stamped the flower from this set in Ranger DI - Spun Sugar. It has that dreamy pink look. I stamped the sentiment over it using Memento Black Ink. The papers are all from my stash - they are a mix of KI memories and PTI.

Also for the very first time I also tried Dawn McVey's Ribbon tying tutorial and I have to say, I am very happy with how my bow turned out. Some MS Punched out Butterflies completed my card.

Here is the sketch,

So, I used the theme and color from this Ornament for my card.

The Seize the Cupcake set from VERVE Was perfect for this card. I cut out the sentiment using Nestabilities Petite Oval and then hand cut the cupcake and popped it up with a few foam dots. I have added some glitter on the cupcake as well.

Yellow Butterfly

I have not dropped off the face of the earth!!!! Just was on vacation and after I came back from vacation, my mojo took one :) We have finally reunited and I have a card to share with you all.

I did this card for The Play Date Cafe Challenge #60. It was to do a black and white card with a splash of Yellow. :)

The paper looks slight more Orange in color in my photo, but it is a beautiful shade of yellow - slightly darker than a lemony yellow.

I used the Verve Stamp sets - Happy Hello and Fluttering By and used the Viva La Verve December Sketch #3 for this card.

December Inspiration for Viva La Verve Sketches were Ornaments. I found this awesome Stained Glass Yellow Butterfly ornament in Etsy which was my inspiration for this card and it also happened to fit the PDCC Color Splash challenge.

Birds and more

I wanted to share the two cards that I did for Karly's Anything with Wings Swap on SCS. I have so many images of birds, it was hard to chose.

1) For my first card I used this lovely bird image - Digi Stamp from Whimsy Haven stamps. I love this bird. It looks beautiful as a line art image or colored. I kept the layout simple with some patterned paper and a charm threaded through the ribbon.

 2) For my second card I used this Studio G stamp from Michaels. I just loved this stamp and I kind of liked how this card turned out. I had to use one of the pins on this card as they seem to be my latest trend :) In this case I used a Making memories Pin and then just added some extra beads to it.

Mojo Monday on a Tuesday

I used the PTI 2010 Holiday Tag Stamp set for this Mojo Monday Sketch #165. Patterned paper is from Jolly by Golly Collection (Cosmo Cricket).

Two things that I noticed after I posted this card is that,

1) I have use the music paper in the wrong way. You can see the text is upside down :(
2) The Holly leaves in the image could use some bling or stickles.

Christmas Wishes with Butterflies

I created this card for Pals Paper Arts Challenge #68 - which was a beautiful inspiration photo. I did not have the colors that were a perfect match to the photo, but I think these come close enough.

The SU Medallion stamp is stamped with Purely Pomegranate ink and the sentiment is stamped in Lavender lace. I was blog surfing and found this interesting challenge of using 5 or more butterflies on your Christmas card/project on on Roree's blog. So, I added some gold butterflies (punched with MS punch) all around the medallion. I really loved how this card turned out.

Here is s a close up of the butterflies,

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #100 - Pride & Prejudice

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge is celebrating their 100th Challenge - and the movie they chose is Pride and Prejudice. I love love this movie. I have watched the latest one so many times and I have read the book so many times :) Awesome indeed.

I am not really good at creating Vintage cards. So, for this card, I took inspiration from the dresses and colors from the movie. I loved that one scene where Elizabeth is visiting Darcy's Home at Pemberley. I loved the striped dress that she is wearing in that scene - you can see some pictures here.

So, here is my card based on the dress from the above scene and with some vintage papers that I had in my stash. I paper pierced the dress and I did not have the exact striped paper as the dress, but I think this comes close. The stamp set is GKD - Retro Boutique designed by Rupa Shevde. I used some pearls and lace as well :)

Damask Inspiration from Moxie Fab World

I was totally inspired by the Damask Post on Moxie Fab world. Oodles of fun and inspiration. So I ended up doing two cards for this,

1. I did a simple Holiday card using the PTI Damask Designs Stamp set. I stamped the Sweet Blush cardstock with the border image and then just layered it with some ribbon and the sentiment on the PTI Fillable Frames Die. This card was inspired by the pink and brown Damask Prints bag in the post.

2. I was really impressed by the very first Yellow damask photo in the Moxie Fab world post and just could not get that out of my mind, so I used the Card Patterns Sketch #87 to create this Friendship card. I kind of liked how this turned out as well. I used the Chair-ished stamp set with this card. I created my own border using one of the single images from the PTI Damask designs stamp set. I just loved the Yellow Damask background with the chair, although I used a brown chair in my card :)

PTI Blog Hop - Diwali Wishes

If you are looking for the Monday {ippity} Hop Post, please scroll down or Click here.

CHALLENGE: There is always a lot of focus on Christmas in our industry this time of year, as that is what the majority of the population celebrates.  However, this month's blog hop is dedicated to those that celebrate winter holidays other than Christmas.  Create a project that celebrates Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or some other winter holiday as we embrace everyone's beliefs in a celebration of diversity through paper crafting.

This challenge was perfect for me to create some Diwali or Deepavali Cards for my friends. Diwali is the Indian Holiday that falls around Winter time. It is called Festival of Lights. Although I did not really use Lights on my cards, but went with more Indian Theme.

For my first card, I used Guide Lines II set along with the Guidelines Paper and created this beautiful background with Orange and Green colors. I then printed the sentiment from Computer, cut it out with Nestabilities and added a simple bow and pin. This motif background has a Indian feel for me. I am in love with these Hat Pins. I bought some pearls from Hobby Lobby the other day and did this pin :)

For my second card, I used the Round and Round Anniversary set, stamped it in Orange and layered it on some Dark Chocolate cut with the PTI Mat Stack die. I love this die and it goes so well with this set. Paper is from the DCVW Taj Mahal collection - beautiful Indian themed paper. I added the sentiment that I printed from computer.

For the last card, though not my best and did not truly turn out how I was anticipating it - I used the flowers from About you set and the sentiment again was something that I printed. Again one of my pins... In love with these :)

There was this one image in the PTI 2008 holiday tag set, a star surrounded by this elegant scroll work, I thought would fit the theme of Diwali as well, as we hang these star shaped lights around the home, but then I was not getting good design ideas..maybe next time.

Butterfly Wishes

Color Throwdown #115 had this awesome color combination and I knew I wanted to create a card with it. Also Smita had challenged us to make a card using ribbons and no stamps!! She is the guest blogger on Yvonne's blog this wee - This was indeed a big challenge for me as I was not sure what to without stamping and it was kind of fun to think outside the box.

I used the new Tim Holtz Texture Fades Embossing folder for the Plum Pudding CS. I cut out the Butterfly from PTI Butterfly die set using the PTI Bitty Dot Basics Patterned paper.

I have always wanted to try the Layered and Looped ribbon technique that Nichole Heady (from PTI) does and never did. So Smita's challenge was perfect for this card. Here is a Video from Nichole Heady showing this Technique.

I am entering this card for,
