Happy Diwali

Hi Friends, I know it is not Diwali yet. But I wanted to create a LO using pictures of Shikha (My friend's daughter)- from last year's Diwali Celebration.

 1) As soon as I saw the Sketchy Thursday 6-23 Sketch, I knew these pictures were perfect for that layout.

2) I am entering this LO in the My Unity Place - Scrapbook challenge - To use Banners on your page.

3) I am also submitting this LO for Nichol Magouirk's challenge on Two Peas in a Bucket - to Use paint/ink/etc. to customize your own embellishments on your next layout!

These are the pictures of my friend's daughter Shikha - when she was all dressed up for the last year Diwali Festival. I had to create a LO with these pictures.

I used the Happy Banner image from the June 2009 Unity KOTM - Perfect in Every Way for the title along with some American Crafts Thickers. I colored the banner image with some copic markers to keep it within my color theme.

The border at the bottom is Tim Holtz Grunge board that I cut with the edgers die and then inked it with some Ranger Acrylic Paint. I also colored the brads with copic markers to get a matching color for my LO.

The layout is simple, but I liked how it turned out. Here is the Sketchy Thursday sketch,

The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC87

I loved the colors this time on The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC87 and I was thinking of creating a scrapbook page. I then saw these pictures of my friend that I had printed (of her Mother's day Celebration with her cute cute kid  and her husband) - they had the perfect shades of red and blue. So here is my LO for PDCC87,

It was kind of interesting to create a page with only three colors :) But I had lots of fun creating these pages and these photos are just too adorable and precious. I used a journaling block from Luxe Designs and left it empty so that my friend can fill in some journaling.

Thanks for stopping by,

PTI June 2011 Blog Hop

The blog hope theme this time is an inspirational photo (shown below). As soon as I saw this photo, it reminded me of the card that Nichole Heady had done for the June stamp release using copics and I had to give it a try (Loved that technique). Plus the three open boxes reminded me of the take three die :) You can see the entire list of participants on Nichole's Blog.

So, here is my take on this inspirational photo, I think the wall hangers are more like dragon flies, but I thought the butterflies worked well too.

I wanted my card to look like I took a bucket of paint and then poured it on the card stock from top. My copic lines are not that clean or that well blended (I was using the chisel tip), but I still like the overall effect of the card and will for sure give this another try. Maybe stamp it with a background stamp and then use that piece of card stock or something like that.

Thanks for stopping by.
Supplies:
Stamp - PTI Handwritten Notes
Paper - PTI White, True Black, Vintage Cream CS
Ink - Memento Black, Copics

{ippity} challenge - bling and sparkle

I did this "Just a Note" card for the {ippity} challenge - Bling and Sparkle. It was kind of hard to capture, but the flower centers have gem centers to them and the button on the bow has a gem as well :)

I went back to my favorite {ippity} stamp set Now and Always. I stamped the flower in blue ink and then matted it on chocolate card to give some contrast. Some ribbon and sentiment completed the card.

Thanks so much - PTI Swap Card

Hello Friends,

It has been a while since I posted, although I have been busy with projects, did not get the time to take pictures and blog.

I am back with a card today that I did for the PTI Swap on SCS Hosted by Michele. This is the card that I did for the regular card spot. I will be back tomorrow with the post on the card candy that I did for this swap.

I used the PTI Beautiful Blooms patterned paper. I chose the card stock and ribbon colors from the patterned paper itself. Red ribbon, Hawaiian Shores and Ripe Avocado CS. I used the Think Big Favorites #1 stamp set and I think the big sentiment looks good matched with any patterned paper. I added a MS punched butterfly with a pearl embellishment to finish off the card.
